Age checks help us place users into age-appropriate environments from the start, and help us ensure parents have the right visibility and controls for their children.
Facial Age Estimation is our fastest age check process. This technology uses live footage to reduce instances of false age checks. Images and videos used for Facial Age Estimation are deleted after they’ve been securely processed.

Chat is a part of what users love about Roblox. To maintain this feature while keeping communication as age-appropriate and safe as possible, we’ve implemented updates that help users avoid policy-violating interactions.
Our chat safety features are only present on Roblox. Keep your conversations on Roblox; do not move conversations with anyone to other websites, where protections may not be as strong.
Filters
Chat filters are in place to block policy-violating conversations, including the sharing of personal information.
Chat monitoring
All chats are monitored for critical harm, both in-game chats and direct chats.
Rewrites
To help conversations continue, our chat rewrites automatically update messages with profanity to be more respective language.
Chat summaries
To improve in-game experiences, our chat summaries allow users to see what others are saying, even if they fall outside of their age group. This allows for more engaged playtime without the risk of cross-generation communication.
