Roblox’s vision is to set the standard for online safety, with rigorous built-in protections and safety systems to help keep every user secure. Roblox also offers tools and services that users can access to further protect their experience. 

How Roblox is protecting our users

Community Standards and policies

Roblox’s Community Standards are designed to help users feel safe and welcome on our platform. These standards apply to everyone on Roblox, and we ask that all users respect our standards and each other at all times. They are updated as the needs of the community and platform evolve.

Proactive content moderation

Roblox has a large team with thousands of trained professionals dedicated to protecting users and monitoring the platform 24/7 for inappropriate content and chats. Aided by state of the art technology, content is reviewed before it is available on the platform and is regularly re-evaluated after it is live. 

Content labels

Experiences on Roblox are rated with content maturity labels to help users and parents understand what content is appropriate for them.

Age checks

Roblox requires all users to complete an age check to use chat features. We restrict chat to users in similar age groups unless they are confirmed as trusted friends.

Chat filters

We have built-in chat filters to help block inappropriate content, including discriminatory speech, extremism, violence, and sexual content. These filters also work to help catch any requests to move off the platform or if a user tries to request or share personal information. 

Chat Rephrasing

Our new rephrasing feature automatically updates messages that use profanity into more respectful language. This helps to keep conversations flowing while adhering to our Community Standards. This bold new approach will require continued experimentation and learning but is focused on empowering users to collaborate and connect in ways that are both fun and respectful.

User education

If a user repeatedly attempts to send messages that the text filter or rephrasing feature detects as against the rules, Roblox will send a notification, warning them to stop. Repeated violations can lead to temporary blocks, suspensions, or bans. 

Constant innovation

We work every day to adapt to new online risks and optimize safety features as new technology becomes available and as regulations change around the world. In 2025, we made more than 100 safety enhancements.

Law enforcement partnerships

We collaborate with law enforcement worldwide, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation, National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, and other international agencies, engaging them when necessary.

Sharing safety tools industry-wide

We are a founding partner of Robust Open Online Safety Tools (ROOST), a global nonprofit dedicated to advancing digital safety with open-source tools. We’ve implemented and open-sourced safety tools including Roblox Sentinel, an AI system for early detection of potential risk in chat conversations, and our PII Classifier, an AI model for detection of attempts to share or request personally identifiable information (PII).

How you can increase your protections on Roblox

Secure your account

Protect your Roblox account by using a strong password, adding an email address or phone number, setting up a passkey, and turning on 2-step verification. Always remember to log out when you’re playing on a shared or public device.

Check your age

Going through Facial Age Estimation allows you to access chat features and content restricted to specific age groups. The process is quick and simple. If you encounter an error or prefer an alternative method, you can use a government-issued photo ID instead.

Maintain your digital well-being

You can turn on Do Not Disturb mode to silence push notifications when you need to focus or sleep and set screen time limits to manage the amount of time you spend on Roblox. Learn more about digital well-being here.

Report, block, or mute users

Roblox has a robust reporting process in place to address violations of the Terms of Use and Community Standards. You have the ability to easily mute or block other community members and report inappropriate content or behavior on the Roblox application and website.

Set up parental controls

If you are a parent or guardian, you can create a Roblox account and link it to your child’s account. This enables you to manage the type of content your child has access to, who your child connects with, and how much time they are allowed to spend on Roblox each day. Set up parental controls now.

Roblox works with experts to create educational resources for parents, caregivers, and youth users, and users of all ages. Use these resources to learn how to navigate the online world safely and confidently.

Use our privacy tools

Use Roblox’s privacy tools to hide your online status, limit or block who you can chat or interact with, control the data to personalize your ads, and access or delete your data.
