We tailor our chat settings and content access to allow users to connect and create in age-appropriate settings. Chat is only available to users who have completed an age check. 

Experience Chat (In-Game Chat)

Default Setting: Chat is OFF. If you would like to permit your child to use Direct Chat or Experience Chat (descriptions below), you can do so using parental controls. Chat will only be available with users in this age group and there is no Voice Chat available. Strong safety filters and Chat Rephrasing are in place to help keep conversations age-appropriate, positive, and secure.

Minimal & Mild: Access to experiences labeled Minimal and Mild. Great for younger users exploring in a safe and creative space.

Experience Chat (In-Game Chat)

Default Setting: Experience Chat is ON. Direct Chat is OFF. You can turn Experience Chat off or Direct Chat on (descriptions below) using parental controls. Chat will only be available with users in this age group and there is no Voice Chat available. Strong safety filters and Chat Rephrasing are in place to help keep conversations age-appropriate, positive, and secure.

Up to Moderate: Access to Minimal, Mild, and Moderate experiences, providing more variety while keeping the environment safe and age-appropriate.

Experience Chat (In-Game Chat)

Default Setting: Chat is ON. Both Experience and Direct Chat (descriptions below) are available to users 13-17 years of age. Users in this age group can chat with others in the same age group using Text and Voice Chat. Strong safety filters and Chat Rephrasing are in place to help keep conversations age-appropriate, positive, and secure. 

Party Chat (Outside of Games

Default Setting: Chat is ON. Users 13-17 years of age can chat with users in their same age group outside of games using Text or Voice Chat. Users in this age group can also chat with verified Trusted Connections, regardless of their age. Strong safety filters are in place to help keep conversations age-appropriate, positive, and secure.
